The proposal freely borrows elements from the Greek traditional tavern in combination with modern references and unpretentiously presents the “Dopios” ( local/ in english) as a familiar, modern Greek restaurant. The outdoor area was designed as an abstract reference to the open-air Greek Festival-Paniyiri. The sloping reed, the string lights and the characteristic green facade of the store creating a familiar scene of Greek Hospitality.
The intense use of dark wood in the furniture, the mosaic tiles, the simple marble tiles, the predominant green color of the Olive and the cement mortar walls create a warm place of hospitality, something that has been set from the beginning as a goal. In the above image, the “knitted lamps”, the decorative clay objects, the fabric chairs – lounge area and the many plants, especially in the attic of the store complete the ambient. Finally, the characteristic floor design of the tile mosaic is the distinctive element of recognition of “Dopios” by the visitor alongside with the olive green color.
