The studio was honored to contribute to the transformation of two rooms within the esteemed House Museum Katakouzenos. Our architectural intervention focused on crafting bespoke furniture for the archive rooms, aligning with the museum's rich architectural legacy.

Inspired by the museum's design cues, including curvilinear motifs, metal railings, and Le Corbusier's 1930s color palette, our design ethos resonated with boldness and sophistication. Proposed were three distinct bookshelves, unified by their shared forms, lines, and colors, yet tailored to different dimensions and functionalities. Some were designed to accommodate books, while others were crafted to house archival paper boxes. The orientation and placement of each bookshelf were carefully calibrated to integrate seamlessly with the room's existing layout, considering factors such as electrical supplies, natural light sources, and pre-existing cupboards.

A significant challenge of the project involved repurposing existing antiquated bookshelves. Through a process of thoughtful additions and transformations, these structures were revitalized into modern iterations, unified by a metal element that also served as a curtain railing. The introduction of curtains in lieu of cumbersome doors not only enhanced spatial connectivity but also added a touch of elegance to the room's ambiance.

In summary, our renovation harmonizes historical reverence with contemporary functionality, offering bespoke architectural pieces that not only honor the museum's legacy but also enhance its archival capabilities and spatial aesthetics.
